Hello, Please can anyone advise if there is any regulation regarding the building regulation and the requirement to install HE boilers?

My boiler was installed in December 2005, I don't think it is a HE variant, should it have been at this time?

My understanding was that there is new legislation in place requiring boilers to be HE

Thanks.

Although HE boilers should have been installed from april two thousand an five.. There are various reasons why an ordinary boiler would have been installed. If new house plans could previously been passed, If existing house an dependent on what was already in points system allows normal boiler

The house was new build completed in December 05

It comprises of an unvented Megaflo system with the Potterton Suprima

In this case, do I need to find out when the plans were passed before investigating further?

sorry to be a pest on this one, i have the builder coming round to discuss some issues, and would really like a definitive answer on my question, does anyone know if i should have a condensing boiler installed?

thanks

You've had the answer - depends on the planning.

Even if they got it wrong in timing, a new boiler now? Fat chance!

most housebuilders are serial ignorers

if they costed the job pre april 05 then they could fit a non condensor for upto 12 months after the cut off date

so u have three hopes of getting a new boiler and two of them are related to Bob ;)
