The chap on the overclocker' forum seems to think that encryption prevents interference, this is a common mistake. Encryption may prevent one system's data / control being affected or read by another system. It does not prevent signals within a system being blocked and/or corrupted by signals from another system.

Could be not working if the two CU's are on different phases.

Run Cat 6 to a few places!

If the mains wiring for system A in house A on phase 1 runs close to the mains wiring for system B in house B on phase 2 ( as in either side of the party wall ) for a few metres then reliable communication can occur between the two systems. This is not permitted by the regulations.
