Power to drill but doesn't work

I concur with Mike13, cut off 12" of cable that enters the drill, and remake the connection - nearly always works.
(With vacuum cleaners it often the cable entering the plug that fractures)

So what would I be best of doing. Cut the cable below the drill and try and re-wire?

Any idea how the live and neutral come out of the drill connections?
