Hi all,

I'll soon be starting to fit my new bathroom, I've ripped out the old suite and pulled all of the old plaster/plasterboard off the walls. Where I've got external walls (3no.) they're either brick or block.

On my stud walls, I'll fix plyboard to this area and PVA it before tiling, but what should I do with brick/block walls - render, batten the plyboard, dot and dab plasterboard?

Any tips greatly appreciated!

I dot n dab'd mine and stuck a few screws through the boards at the top due to the weight of the tiles. My biggest regret was not insulating it at the time. If you have solid walls like me (especially 3 of them!) then batten, insulate, vapour barrier and plasterboard/plyboard/aquaboard. Tiles stick very well to just plasterboard (its just paper, anything sticks to it). No need to seal it - but the plasterboard will need replacing when you change the tiles, you'll destroy it taking them off.
