Pressure Equalising Valve with bath/shower diverter

Would a pressure equalising valve be effective as an anti-scalding device in a (non-thermostatic) shower / bath / diverter combination . Hot water from combi and cold from mains.

I had a quick chat with a lad on our street (plumber by trade) and he told me not too worry about it - something to do with the boiler limiting the temp (or something like that ??)

Cheers -- anything that would work or do I go with what the lad on the street says -- ie just leave as is
