Problem with Ferroli Boiler - please help

The engineer, when he came, used the red valve to release water.
well he's shouldn't have unless he's prepared to replace it when it leaks as most do!
It has a hose that goes into a bucket currently - it does not go outside.
again it shouldn't
Can I use the red valve to release water. This valve opens and closes itself when let go. I think it is the pressure release valve.
see 1st item and make your choice!

ideally get a rad valve with a draincock and put in system somewhere.

Combi manufactured in 1924 I'd be very surprised if it was !!

oh dear, well he did replace the red valve with a new one.

Damn, doesn't seem any way to drain this thing without the red valve :-(

if it is a f24 bottom rhs under the pump should be a crosshead screw blk plastic, undo it but do not remove completely this will drain the boiler.failing that take a rad off and drain through the rad.

Thanks for the repy. Can I unscrew this whilst the boiler has 1 bar on the gauge?

Thanks,

so I do this:

1. Undo the screw and leave open with bucket
2. Gauge will reduce to 0
3. I re-pressurise the espansion vessel to 10 psi
4. I do up the screw
5. I open black tap to repressurise to 1 bar.

all sound ok?

Thanks,
Sophie
