Problem with patio flooding, drainage blocked

A builder I used has built a step in front of a drainage trench we had and now it floods in front of step every time it rains.
Any help appreciated.
No use saying go back to builder as he has been a nightmare

That is not the work of a professional builder, not even of a competent DIY'r.

Try asking how to put it right instead !

It's just a trench I did myself and filled with pebbles with soil undeath, it has never been an issue before

It looks like you need a new builder who can fit some drainage and redo the step/brickwork.

Either put a new drainage trench or channel in front of the steps, or get a few Koi and lily pads.
