Problem with replacing mr16 bulb

Hi, one of the spotlight/downlights has stopped working, assuming it was the bulb we changed that, but it hasn't worked. This happened previously on another light, we had to get an electrician eventually to solve the problem. Has anyone any idea what could be causing the problem. The lights have been in about 10 years and take mr16 prong type bulbs.

It could be one of many things.

Loose/failed connection somewhere, transformer failure, lamp holder worn.

Favourite is the transformer, sometimes the lampholder contacts do get worn/enlarged and the pins of lamp don't make good contact, in these cases the lamp sometimes works but goes out. Then the lampholder tails do burnout, as do the connection blocks.
