Got to change the alty belt on the missus car tomorrow, had a quick look today and cant work out how the tensioner releases.
Anyone done one recently and remember how to release the tension?
Its got a/c, 6 pulleys in total.

Find one of the small pulleys(one with the 15mm nut) and lever with the spanner to release tension on the belt. take a pic of how the belt runs as a pig putting a belt back on with no clue how it goes.

Thanks, ive just found a diagram which shows the assembly. It needs a square tool (3/8 ratchet) inserted into the tensioner arm to release it as suggested in the last link

did the job yesterday and it wasnt too bad. Wheel arch liner out, 3/8 ratchet extension bar fits nicely into the sqaure on the tensioner body to release it, bit fiddly trying to get the belt back on but not too bad.

What size engine was this one? I've got to put a timing belt on a 52 plate 1.1 A/C soon.
Thanks for the tensioner info.
John :)
