I have a Puma 80e. The hot water works fine, however, when I try to switch the central heating on nothing happens and as a result I have no central heating.

Please can anyone help.

These have sensitive diverter valves , so do you have a very slightly dripping hot tap?
If so shut it properly off and try heating again please

Thank you. The hot water tap is dripping at the valve. I have tightened the valve but it continues to drip

The hot water isolating valve. It is very stiff and does not seem to turn

I have tried using a pair of pliers but not been successful. thanks for your help

I have unscrewed the red lever, as this does not turn. It is leaking out of the middle of the valve just below where the lever was screwed in. Not sure how to stop the leak!

Has anyone done any work on the system recently, and what is the system pressure?

Where is the valve, and what's it connected to?

If you have a service valve or stopcock to isolate the boiler from the mains water. If that does the trick, the flowswitch is the culprit. If it doesn't solve the problem, it is likely to be the diverter.

Leave it alone for the moment, it needs replacing; you are quite likely to make matters worse if you move it, and little chance of reducing the leak.
Just in case it goes wrong, make sure your stopcock is working and readily accessible; better safe then sorry.

Forgot to mention, service valves are always risky, and should be left alone if they don't turn freely. If there is easy access to the cold inlet pipe, it would be a good idea to put a separate stopcock there.

Are you quite sure the leaking tap is hot water?

Normally the only coloured taps are on the CH flow and return and they always leak if you touch them. They are number 4 & 5 if I remember correctly.

The hot water out is ususally a brass valve with a screwdriver slot and flat faces on the shaft.

Its the kitchen or bathroom taps we are interested in.

It sounds like the diverter valve or DHW flow switch if there are no leaking taps.
