Putin, arse, elbow

I agree. Whatever it takes. Otherwise it sets a dangerous precedent of nuclear states behaving with impunity.
It needs to be brought into a UN forum, but Russia is a permanent member of the security council.
A threat to remove that permanent member status might be a big stick, but an effective stick.
You include nuclear war then. Putin isn't bothered by the UN.

He'll want the Ukraine mines. Food can be produced elsewhere.

They say to help Ukraine establish a grain corridor. It's adjacent to an area of Ukraine that effectively land locks Moldova. Google maps appear to show low population levels and beaches. It's area is ~0.08 miles^2.

Ukraine claimed that Russia was stationing missile launch stuff on it and war in ukrain mention ukraine attacking it a while ago now. This appears to show stuff blowing up
Russia used it as a platform for anti-aircraft systems. It allowed them to deny airspace to Ukraine in the south west of the black sea.

Now Ukraine can do the same, plus mount anti shipping missiles.

Perhaps given how it started it's really a war with the west. We don't know much about initial talks between the USA and Russia. A few details emerged but given the massed troops on Ukraine's boarder that is likely to have been used as a threat if the USA didn't agree to what Russia wants. The USA is the dominant power with most "money" in the west and in NATO.

Seriously I think you can forget Russia's aim is to gain resources. They have enough as they stand and in all areas production could probably be increased if they wanted.

So Putin attacks. He gets yet more sanctions over what was applied due to Crimea. That in terms of defeating him everywhere they have influence is good for the west. Zelejnskyy's attituded expressed in a news conference - no weapons, no fight. No loss of territory. It's now an economic war with no definite end as far as the west is concerned with an on cost of providing help to Ukraine - not just on weapons. They need funds to run the country. That it seems included paying soldiers and other salaries. Probably pensions etc too. Things appear to be rather tight for Ukrainians in general. Putin may wonder if there will be an uprising of some sort.

The other aspect is will Russia run out of soldiers and or kit. Will Ukraine have enough of both to drive them out.

Biden outlined the cap on Russian oil prices idea. Maybe too many can't do without it so establish a max price they can sell it for. This is thought will bring down oil prices in general. No figures given - that's down to advisors. All of the west is currently under economic pressure. Oil figures highly but loads of other things figure as well. Biden has other ideas to bring down fuel prices in the USA but needs to get them through congress. Mostly no tax by the sound if it.

Grain - pass on this but it seems Greece will provide ships. Getting it out by land it seems has no chance of getting anywhere near what could be got out with ships. Still no solid news on how the idea is going. It's very clear which side would object most to one aspect. They did a while ago.

How are things world wide major powers - much hotter than they have ever been before. Much talk but actions are what counts.

They will probably take militsry action against Taiwan in the next decade ??? ( invade)

China are seeking military parity with the US
The USA say it would be the same as Ukraine. Weapons and no boots on the ground.

Airstrikes, naval bombardment or their limited stock of precision cruise missiles.
If they can still do all sorts of things is the main aspect really. A western puppet / friend controlling Russia may be another option.

Hmm

Afaik Japan would become involved
If China went into Taiwan

An attack on Japan or Japanese assets by China ? Would be a game changer ???

Just on News @ 10 - Snake Island taken back from Russian invaders. A strategic place (y)

Russia can simply bomb whatever goes on snake island, it's now irrelevant.
Not that easily. They're low on high quality smart munitions, so trying to hit a radar site isn't going to be trivial. To hit Snake Island from Russia you need long range cruise missiles or air launched weapons or naval fire support. The first is expensive and in short supply, the later two means you're risking expensive and limited assets.

But they may not bother. Snake island isn't that useful to Ukraine. Denying Russia the ability to site anti air systems there is probably enough.

Why go out of your way to be a tw@?
I said they will want it, I didn't say that's their aim, DUH.
And it's not just about how much EG Ti they have, it's also about how they can deprive others.

"Could probably be increased if they wanted" WHat's the point of typing that?
God you post a load of cardboard.

They don't need precision munitions. They have an air force, this is their back yard. They still have some boats around the place too....

If their Airforce is coming close enough to hit it with unguided missiles then it will be close enough for the SAM site to hit them back.

If their boats come close enough to shell it then it's well within the range of Neptune missiles let alone the stuff we've shipped them.
