First time on here, and a complete novice.

So a quick question, we are about to start replacing our skirting boards. Does anyone recommend PVC skirting, can't find much info about it. But absolute hate repainting skirting boards.

What are the pro's and cons? or are we better sticking with wooden or mdf skirting boards and painting white?

Pesonally I'd go with wood every time.

PVC skirting would mark very easily.

Use a tough varnish on your wood skirting and it wouldn't need re-doing for years and years.

If you are going for a paint finish then mdf is as good.

I personally wouldn't use upvc for skirting as once scratched or marked the damage will be there forever more until you change the skirting. I don't know of any products that will cover a deep scratch in upvc. MDf skirting is cheaper than wood, but it also also a lot more flexible, depending upon the depth and can be a pain the backside to keep true.

My wifes got a PVC skirt and whilst it does mark, its very easy to clean

I've used white upvc skirting in my bathroom and it looks very good. You can get it in many effects such as these Here

With the bashing my kids give it, i am pleased to say it holds up very well. most marks wipe off with a bit of elbow grease. Am thinking of using the Light Oak Effect when I replace the floor in the hall as the real stuff is too steep for my pocket.

Salem.
