pyro underground

while speaking to the taxi driver on the way home from a party last night he told me about some work on his garden that his electrician mate did for him, sockets and some lighting i think

he said he used pyro and buried it 4" underground!
asked him if he had a test certivicate, he said no
asked him if he had nofifyed it, he said no

i cant understand why he would have used pyro in the first place!

Steel wire armoured would have been far more resistant to mechanical damage.

Pyro or Mineral Insulated Metal Sheathed is too expensive to supply a garden but does have the advantage of higher current carrying capacity for a given conductor csa.
Depth of cable depends upon where the cable runs. It should be deep enough to 'not be disturbed'. So in a flower bed it will be at least a spades depth. It should also have a yellow warning tape placed above it so that anyone digging will encounter that first.

It has an earthed metal layer arround the live cables so yes it is ok to use underground.
