Quick history question - MK fitting design.

Quite frankly it's not a phrase to google from anywhere.

IMO.

Your opinion may be different. We're all men of the world (except sparkybird).

But I don't want to see your holiday snaps.

...and then another cosmetic refresh in the early-mid 80s which removed the 'on' legend from the switches and framed the MK logo in the middle of the socket in a rectangle...
Sounds about right, my parents house was wired in 1988 and almost exclusively has the latest logic (not logic plus) with the framed logo and no 'on' on the sockets, no logo on the switches. But some are old design, later updating, or old stock, I guess. Couple of fcu's with an 'on' on them and a dpdt light switch with the logo still in the corner.

And the good old Sentry cu!

Just had an e-mail from MK.

I know, I'm a bit anal.

He says there were two ranges of flush brown accessory, the first introduced circa 1951, the second circa 1959.

The ivory ranges came in circa 1965-70. Logic came in 1974 and Logic Plus in 1991.

Had the two later dates confirmed by a long-standing employee at WF.

Intresting that the Logic Plus came in 1991 I don't recall seeing any until the late 1990s
And im sure my local B&Q where selling the MK logic sockets and switches until around 97/98 they where packed in plastic on a red card.

I'm sure there was, like a lot of stuff, a lengthy changeover period.

I seem to remember discussing the new style MK grid switches when I was at college around 15 years ago.

Pretty sure the current rocker/Logic Plus design was late 1996. I bought them when they first appeared in B&Q who had the whole MK range in summer '97. Before that, the second gen square design (with printed red on switches) was everywhere, and I've never seen the Logic Plus anywhere or its pattress anywhere in London before that.

Maybe MK meant the second gen Logic...? Nothing with a curved front existed in the early '90s by any manufacturer. Everything still had sharp edges, unless you count Crabtree or Clipsal as curved, but they were unique.

A company called JAC (Chinese?) also appeared in about '97 in B&Q using a very slight variant of MK's older square logic design - presumably the patent had expired?!

Has anyone noticed how BG Nexus range are completely ripping off MK's design?
