rad won't heat, any ideas?

the rad in my kitchen won't heat, but the inlet pipe for it will! am i right in thinking that this is more than likely an air lock? all the valves in the house were replaced when we moved in but this was a while before we were actually living in the house so we are unsure of whether it ever heated. the plumber left a lot to be desired so i'm not sure if he might have fitted a dodgy valve!!??

i tried switching all other rads off to force out any air and it heated once, tried again today and it wouldn't heat at all!

all the rads make a banging sound when the heating is on, would this be relevant?

Are 1 of the valves a TRV?
If so then pin could be jammed closed !!
