I knew the bung bit, done it many times when removing rads complete with valves or installing TRVs and LS valves. Hadn't thought about shutting a pump valve.

right i've checked the tank in the loft and the ballcock is working ok...
The boiler is a stelrad ideal mexico slimline rs55

Im charging 3 ports (Honeywells) at £135. I bung all with gate valves on the pump.
Price hike now!
Id whip the pump 'head' off and check the impellor is still attached to the 'shaft'.

try locking hte valve in mid pos with the lever on the side / end
