Hey everyone, first time poster here thought I'd try out this website as we're just moved into a new house and need a couple of bits queried :)

So under one of our kitchen cupboards we have this (attached picture) going on. The isolation valvue is very slowly dropping water and the cupboard generally smells damp. At some point I think I need to replace the bottom board of the cupboard as it might be a bit rotten, but as for the pipework, do I need to take off the valvue and screw on a stop end or the like, or should I replace the vertical pipe leading up to the stop cock.

Does anyone know why that stop cock might be there? The main cold water feed stop cock is behind that back panel.

Any help or general insight greatly appreciated :) Cheers guys.

Please can I double check the alterations I've made to fix this dripping isolation valve... I bought a stop end, but used the old olive and the old nut (I think stainless steel) which was holding the isolation valve on (again stainless steel).

I used the old olive as I didn't see any need to replace it and it looked exactly the same, and the old nut as you can't get it off without removing the olive.

HOWEVER, can I double check the mix of metals here please, the stainless steel nut isn't touching the water cause it's pinched up against the brass olive but I'd like to double check this isn't going to cause problems. I made sure I didn't overtighten anything and it's not leaking.

Cheers.

Worry ye not.....they are all chrome plated brass so if there's no leaks, the job is a good 'un.
