I have seen this
http://www.blueprintjoinery.com/products/Solid-Oak-Stair-Cladding-Landing-Tread.html
and wonder if it would be better to get a carpenter in & lay planks or engineered wood if it is available.
I have carpet on the stairs currently, not looked under it but would have a guess its ply/blockboard .
The stairs have one 90 degree bend halfway up.
The hall (not very big)is real wood that has been stained.
The landing is carpet that I would have removed & have a wooden floor laid.
Any hints/tips advice welcome. I will not be doing the job.

Very nice, but very noisy, especially if you have kids running up and downstairs.

No kids, A dog who made the carpet dirty & leaves hair all over.
Im thinking that wood is easier to clean.
The stairs only go over a loo & the utility room.

I was thinking of putting a runner on the centre part of the stair.
Im just looking for the best way to have a wooden staircase, do I buy a kit or get a carpenter to lay wood on top of what is there
