re goodmans television

hi i have a goodmans, television.. which is stuck on the stand.by. mode.. and my remote controller is broken,,and i can't use the telly,, does anyone from the forum,, have any ideas as to how i can still use the telly

hi yeah i've bought a cheap.. remote controller,, but this did not work,, any other ideas

Poundland do cheap remotes, should be enough to get it out of standby.

If the generic remote control did not work there is a possibility that the TV has a fault on it. Modern power supplies in tv's when they develop a fault either in the power supply or the timebases will close down into standby automatically until the fault is rectified.This prevents the tv running under fault conditions and possibly overheating. This is why TV fires are quite rare today.The majority of TV's even when the remote control does not work will switch on out of standby by simply pressing the up/down manual button on the TV itself.
