Hi,

Any idea on the cost of knocking this wall down and rebuilding with a similar brick?

The small part next to my drive is leaning quite a bit. I assume from the hedge,

It is around 6m long,

Thanks

That depends whether the shrubs/trees/hedge is staying or not. Or if you intend using the same foundations, etc.

The wall is inline with the neighbours wall and it keeps things neat and tidy. The hedge is for privacy.

I want to keep the hedge and possibly use the same foundations.

If the entire wall is now at an angle, then surely that means the foundations have moved due to the hedge, and pointless rebuilding off them. Aside from that, I’m not a bricky, but I’ll start the banter off at £1.5-2k if foundation kept.

Work must be plentiful for brickies then, I assume.
Not at the moment, lots looking for work, 1600 would be around the figure i would charge, including a new footing which looks like it needs doing, its 2 days work for a single brickie, could be 3 if footing full of roots etc.

Can you imagine for one second any normal human being wanting to point the flip side of that garden wall? Plus that hedge is only going to get more destructive on the wall and the foundations.

I'd rather go hungry.

No self-respecting builder would touch it with that hedge and the effect it could have on the wall. Plus you need to factor in the deeper foundations, to prevent the hedge roots having an effect on the wall.

Just for a bit of perspective - the job below has a hedge in close proximity on both sides. Granted, it was made up ground (400-800mm) so that also affected depth, but we still had to go down to a suitable depth below the root interference. Average trench depth was 2.1m. Average concrete thickness was 1.6m deep.
