I'm just trying to get a feel for where the best places to shop for plumbing parts are:- flexi pipe, copper pipe, fittings, adapters, rads, de-scalers, etc? I'm doing a full re-plumb on the ground floor for my house so will need quite a few parts

I don't really want to visit all the local shops and price everything up to save a few pence.
Just wondered if there are places around that plumbers are happy just to get all your parts from?
I live in Portsmouth if it helps with Plumbworld, Plumbcentre, Buildbase, as well as big diy stores.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Huw

The obvious answer is to pick up your phone and ask for prices.

It has worked for me these past 30 years!

as your not looking to open an account or trade but just doing one project albeit bigger than your average diy job,i'd be surprised if a merchant like plumbcentre etc would give you good terms(probably a little off of retail)

As much as i hate them, in your situation probably the sheds(bodge'n'Q) or screw/plumbfix might be your best option.

Thanks lcgs
Looks like i'll have to shop about a bit then as b&q are well expensive on some things like copper pipe :(
Cheers

good prices on everything here, and certainly cheaper than a shed >>>>> www.bes.co.uk

also screwfix are good. If you look carefully through the catalogue you will often see 2 versions of stuff, for example, washing machine valves, they do 2 types, one naff one made in china and a pegler version for a quid more. The pegler bits are all good quality and still well priced.

Most of Peglers stuff is now made in China.

B&Q are as cheap if not cheaper than any of the merchants on copper tube if buying full bundles.

I am inclined to say what nonsence!

One of our main suppliers charge about 10% more than B&Q for 30 m bundles of 15 mm copper tube!

b&q copper is cheap, but everything else is ridiculous in price. So not exactly a one stop shop for supplies.

Browse the websites & select which bits you'll get in which store.

No such thing as a one stop shop.
Merchants can rip you off big time too if you don't watch every invoice.
Good prices on the big items or when asked to quote and you play them against each other, but they get it back on the small everyday things if you don't watch them. You've rarely got the time to phone for prices and they know this.
Recently had invoice for 50 x 22mm end feed elbows at £83.00 + vat! (£1.91 ea). After a severe moan to the manager got a credit for £70.50 +the vat..

How else do you think they can take you golfing, corporate box football days, trips to Spain etc. (although the manufactures contribute too).
At the end of the day somebody is paying for it, make sure it is not you!

Cheers for the replies

Priced up 3m lengths of copper from B&Q at £13.50ish each.
Same tube at £5.70 at plumb centre, but going on some comments here I'll check if that is per m (it certainly doesn't say per m in the book)

Thanks
Huw

B&Q 22mm 1.94/m inc vat 15mm 98p/m inc less trade discount if you have card (30m bundles)
Single lengths probably about double that?
