Hi

My system is UFH on three floors. Oil-fired boiler with weather-compensation and one central controller.

Since the living-floor (open-plan) has a wood-burner which will be used a lot, I will put the controller on bedroom level ( 3rd floor is a separate apartment downstairs)

Additional thermostats needed to control Honeywell two-position valves on boiler feed-manifold.

For general information, is there any technical reason/advantage why some thermostats are mains and some battery ?

I am in France but sourcing in UK.

Thanks.

Most now are battery as thats easier to implement and easier for most people to connect up.

The previous ones might have mains voltages but did not have a mains supply as such so inadequate cables.

If I was doing that In would have the MVs at each floor!

Otherwise you have a lot more pipes!

Bon nuit !

There you are, you doubters!

As I've been telling you, they always fit weather comp in France and Germany.

Thanks for the answer Tony. Feel like recommending a couple of simple models just to handle the on/off switching ?

My system has a manifold on each floor, each supplying four circuits: obviously with a feed and return to the boiler.

In this scenario does it matter if valve is at boiler or manifold ?
