I'm re-fitting my downstairs WC, and I'm a little unsure what to do with the skirting board and new tiles.
I want to have a hidden cistern, so plan to box out and re-plasterboard as shown below in blue.
My concern is that a back to wall toilet will need the wall tiling to avoid splash marks on the wall.
this isn't an issue other than what to do with the skirting board.
the floor follows though the whole of downstairs and I dont really want to remove it.
When I remove the skirting I will have an 18mm gap between the floor and wall.
I may be over thinking this, but would it be ok to tile and fill the gap that's left with silicone?
Typically how thick is the adhesive on a 10mm tile? maybe 5mm?
so 10mm tile + 5mm adhesive would leave a 3mm gap between the tile and where the floor starts.
