removing window

can anyone advise what i need to do when removing a window and bricking up, the house was built in the 60's and has a cavity, is it just a case of taking out the window and bricking up to match external and internal brickwork or do i need to think about putting in dpc etc ,the window size if relevant is 2ft x 3ft
