Rendering Problems-pics added

Ok cheers for that. Itll be in this weather and this weekend hopefully! I shall use my big wire brush attatchment and frind all the bricks and stones back, get all the rubbish off.

Does it have to go tacky? i mean what if i left it longer? i mean painted it on, then knocked up and scratched it? If i need to i ll get someone to knock up while im painting....

Also any one tell me which merchants sell blue grit? i can get it online, but i have to wait for delivery. There is a place in huddersfield near the stadium, but they want £33 a tub, and id rather wait a few days and get it delivered, and im not paying £33 for something i can get or £20.....scrooge....

thanks again. Ill take pics of each stage of th job too...maybe ill get a pic of the horny p@rn star lady whos house it is....lol

is there a wikes near you? Try wikes bonding agent -£15 a tub.

How'd you manage to get a job for a porn star then get asked back again.
Some people have all the luck!!!

well i do get called bradaconda a bit.......

Dont know why, maybe because im honest? im only 34, i have a laugh with the people, i can advise them on other things, i know a lot of people whom i reccomend, sparks, plumbers etc...i turn up on time, ive never been late in my life, i dont take any money upfront, unless i need to spends 4 or 5 hundred on materials, i tell them to get other quotes, dont just rely on what i say?

example...last friday i went and looked at a job for a lady, check this out, they were lesbian nurses, i met them as they came in from work!!!

in there uniforms, and about 25.....

anyway she needs new windows so i gave her a number. Text her last night to make sure he turned up as i had reccomended him. she then told me a plasterer had been round and quoted £250, i had quoted £275, but she liked me and wants me to do it. So i suppose dont go in and act like an idiot, be honest, dont take the p@ss, and youll get work!

As for the actual post, i was gonna get some wickes stuff, but wanted to get the blue grit as its coloured and im always paranoid about misses with pva. If anyone knows where they sell it round here as i dont realy want to pay £33 a tub...may have to go for wickes

You could always put some food dye in with your pva.I haven't done this but heard of it being done...I would use the sbr straight even if it said water down,1-1 mix with cement some times I put a coat on wait till it is touch dry and put another coat on and sometimes a third one then scratch it when it's touch dry, I have never used silka either...

Any one ever add lime to there render mix? i mean normal render. I have a great big gable to do, and i am considering rubbing it up with a 5-1-1, incase there is any cracking. And some people i know use this as the lime in the top coat can lessen any cracks that could appear.

Got to hack the old stuff off first.....cant wait!!!!

You an use a 5-1-1 mix, put a cap of washing up liquid in it.

Most of my rendering consists of 5-1 with w/proofer scratch and 6-1-1 lime top coat and sometimes a drop of plaz in it, rubs up lovely..

I tend to do 5-1-1 and 6-1-1 top for internal mainly but 5-1-1 outside areas that get knocked around..

Did you get to use the sika 1 Brad? If so what do you think?

8am tomorrow morning, itll be going on, just gonna knock it up neat and paint it on. Then ive got a bit of pointing to do for half an hour, then gonna stick the second coat on. Then if the weathers ok, scratch it sat.

thanks for that mate

When you think that years ago the render was never as "strong" as we mix up today (5-1-1 and 6-1-1 )sometimes the old render mixes were only sand and lime, and it stood the test of time, so our mixes will suffice.
;)
