Hi

I have a small leak in my roof, looks like the gully area is letting the water in. The pointing on the tiles adjacent to the roof channel looks in poor condition and I would say needs re-pointing, in my don't have clue about roofing opinion.

The more worrying thing is the chipped tiles. Can these be repaired or will they need replacing, if replacing is this a big job?

I have some pictures to show the problem.

Thank you

That's a valley, one of the most difficult roofing jobs to sort out.

It looks like the valley has previously been coated with something - something that looks non-standard.

So it may not be just the valley mortar that's the issue, but the whole valley may need replacing - not recoating. The chipped tiles are the least of your worries.

Get several quotes from reputable, proper roofers.

And do not accept repointing. All the tiles would need rebedding on completely new mortar.

Thank you very much for your advice. Is it ok to use the original tiles on the repair.
Do roofers usually belong to a trader association, is it essential to employ one that does.
