I've done quite well out of it, so I'd say so.

My response is/was out of astonishment to a price that is way beyond belief.

The op, IMO, was asking an honest question and I answered honestly. I cannot think of a roof that is so difficult it excuses such a price for what is a small repair, even if it was a three storey building it would be nowhere near that price.

And it turns out they didn't even fix the leak

We are getting one side of of the story with a very poor description of the work he/she had done. I honestly have no idea where he/she lives so couldn't offer an opinion as to the cost of scaffolding, here it's more than you quoted. I could remove and replace 89 slates in a few hours on some jobs whereas on others, it would take days.

True, it could take you/me a day or possibly two but 150 hours? 9 days for two roofers and a labourer, that's 5 slates per roofer per day.

I answered on what was in front of me, I have no reason to doubt the legitimacy of the op.

Whether my example of scaffold prices is correct or not is of little consequence as they didn't use or charge for it, which makes the pricing even more astonishing. I wish I could charge those rates, I'd be retired with a bigger boat, said with tongue firmly in cheek.
