Replace existing single socket with double

Hi - I have a single power socket that i want to change into a double flush mounted socket. I want to keep it as slim as possible so don't want to use the 1-2 converters.
I am assuming its as simple as taking out the old socket and back box and replacing with new?

In theory yes but in practise not always simple.
