Replace Pull cord in Bathroom with a switch - what are the options

My bathroom has a pull cord, I could swap the two bulbs for smart bulbs, or even bulb with PIR sensor, but not sure that is an improvement, with smart bulbs "hey google turn on bathroom light" can wake people, and with a PIR sensor it can switch off while in the bath.

I could use kinetic switches, but the question has to be what is wrong with a pull cord, until one can understand why you don't want a pull cord hard to work out what will work.

I have noted that Tapo do PIR switches with their smart range, but first what's the problem with a pull switch?
