Replacing a Radiator

Evening all

I'm looking to replace a old double radiator
with no convectors in my bedroom 1438mm x 450mm.
Want to replace it with a 1400mm x 400mm Vogel & Noot double panel, double convector.
I want to replace the standard rad valve with a trv. Will i have to drain down the whole system to do this??
I have open vent system with gravity hot water?

thanks for the replies. How much water
will i lose once valve is removed and when the
carrots or bungs are in place?
