Boiler conked out on me other week. Boiler itself seemed ok with pilot light on etc but no hot water or heating. Anyway BG came to repair and sods law came into play because they day he came it all worked nicely when it had been off for a week. Its been working ok for few days now but i know it will go again soon. Its an old boiler that was installed about 9 years ago. (Glow worm swiftflow 75), we have no time or programmble thermostats etc. Just a simple on/off switch so if its cold we have to manually switch heating on which then make you feel like your on fire.
Obviously i want to upgrade this system so im guessing now is the chance cost permitting.
Option 1:
I have seen this http://www.mrcentralheating.com/ which offers a new boiler pack and TRV's etc which sounds like what i want.
Is this all i need to replace existing boiler? Do i need any other accessories ie. flues etc etc or will existing equipment be ok to use?
Edit: For information im looking at the BAXI 105E HE boiler kit
Roughly the cost to install? I know quotes are not really given but just looking to find my overall budget. Anything more than £300 in north west?
Option 2:
Repair existing at £130 until can comfortably afford new system and in the mean time give it a good cleaning etc. Bearing in mind its 9 years old and my breakdown again soon.
How would i get the inhibitor into the system to flush out any sludge etc?
Any advice welcome.
