The glovebox on my 3 series BMW stopped working and after getting it open and taking off the handle I found that a couple of wirings have become detached.

It's the two brown wires (one has a purple strip) that have become detached from the small switch box that sits on the handle side.

My problem I not sure wire should be soldered onto which terminal or if it matters?

Any advice? Cheers[/b]

I'll stick me neck out.....this sounds like the glovebox light, and therefore just allows the bulb supply to continue to earth - so which way round doesn't matter.

Sorry typo in the title - meant to say repairing...

It's definitely the handle, I think it's connected to the central locking system hence the power connection

Fair comment mate, I'll have to leave this one to others with experience of this....I didn't realise the glovebox had a lock operated centrally!
If it was mine I'd still give it a go though - 50% chance of success and all that.

Thought I may as well give it a go, as you 50/50 to get it right.

Didn't factor in the need for 3 hands to hold the solder iron, wire and solder so will have to wait until the wife gets in!
