She's feeling a bit down as she had x rays and blood tests today, damaged cruciate ligament in back leg. Just waiting for email from vet with a list of specialists.
This is her, a Goldendoodle

Ooh, love the tail!! :) Pretty girl!
Sorry she's so poorly, how did she do her back leg in? Ouch.. Hope it goes well, can you let us know please?
Yeah, they charge but you don't grudge the animal.
Our first bengal got a UTI. Knocked him off his feet and spent 2 days hooked up to a drip of antibiotic and fluids. Apparently it should've been 3 days but after his howling 24/7 (bengal cats are really, baby screaming, loud) they asked for me to collect him because they couldn't handle it anymore. I was quite proud coz his bill was £700 and I liked that the vets had to earn their dosh :)

Thanks. We think she done her leg as she ran and jumped in a paddling pool and slipped in the hot weather. Her tail was dyed when we were clapping for the NHS, she'd come out and BARK LOUDLY. Barky McBarkface she is.

My dog went to the vet today for booster vaccine....whilst there the vet emptied her anal glands.....not sure what that involved but she wasn't too happy about it (dog not the vet)

Last year I received a phone call from a vet on a Friday evening as he had a poorly cat handed in which had been hit by a car. Its chip identified me as a 2nd POC as my daughter was in London for the w/e and was uncontactable. Unsure as to whether the cat was insured I asked how much would it cost to keep it comfortable over the w/e until I could speak with my daughter. £1000 was the reply, and that was before any surgery to fix the poor bugger!! Tragically the injuries were too severe and it didn't last the night.

I'd expect the vet wasn't too happy either.. not a nice job!

Very sad :(

Exactly what it says on the tin. Dogs have glands around their anus, (obviously why they are called what they are called), which they use to mark an area/object etc. Basically like animals in the wild.
This is why other dogs are always sniffing lampposts, gates, trees etc to see if other dogs have been there. If these glands get blocked it can be quite painful and is also a reason why a dog will 'bum slide' across the carpet. It's trying to relieve the pressure by doing this.
A vet will simply squeeze them like a blackhead. The gunge from them is disgusting and very smelly. I wouldn't like to do it.

Just remembered an episode from All Creatures Great and Small where Mrs Pomfrey calls to say that her dog, Tricky Woo, has 'flop-bot'. Her dog had blocked anal glands. LOL

I am nearing it..Any tips from those in it?.

Expect to need a couple of years to get used to the idea of retirement, after a hard working life. It's a big change and takes a while to get it into your head, that you no longer have to get up early, no longer have deadlines to meet. It also takes a while to understand how much further your money can go, now you have more time to shop around.

....or Peter from Family Guy!

I’ve been semi retired for ages as I've been working a maximum of 20 hours a week for a good few years and was temporarily on just 2.5 hours a week before lockdown. Been getting a private pension for three years already although I have another 4 years to wait before the state one kicks in.
Well, I just heard today that those 2.5 hours won’t be happening in September or possibly even October which suits me just fine. So, unless anything else comes along before then, I guess I’ll just continue on furlough until the end of October and then I might have to dip in to our war chest. Happy days!
