RNLI

Just in case the RWR had forgotten the crux of the thread...

Donations to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) have spiked multiple times, often in direct response to public criticism of its life-saving work.
The most notable surge occurred in July 2021 when the charity raised £200,000 in a single 24-hour period. This marked a 2,000% increase in daily online donations compared to its typical £7,000 baseline. This spike happened after public figures and politicians—including Nigel Farage—criticized the charity for rescuing migrants crossing the English Channel. The RNLI’s CEO defended this humanitarian work, which prompted a wave of public support

The charity saw another moderate increase in online donations in April 2023. This bump occurred after far-right groups launched a petition attempting to revoke the RNLI's charitable status, which led to a wave of counter-donations by the public

Keep it boyos, the RNLI is eternally grateful for your efforts.

I'm still laughing about the standing ovation you got at the last fundraising having put a few coins in a box.
