Hi guys, can someone help me trouble shoot this one. I have a wet underfloor heating system and one room is permanently on even when the stat is turned off. What would this indicate and what can I try to resolve?

Many thanks,

Devs.

There could be a few reasons, mis-wiring, flat batteries in a battery powered room stat, or zone actuator stuck or not fitted correctly to the UFH manifold. What system do you have?

Hi and thanks for the response, I've had a look into this further and one of the zone actuators appeared to have come loose. No. 8 on the attached picture.

The room is split into two (no8 and 7 on the attached picture.) and it would make sense that No.8 was causing the problem as after further investigation only one half of the rooms floor is hot.

Anyhow I've reconnected the actuator but the rooms temp does not seem to be decreasing either with this stat off or reduced to 5o's?

What would be my next step in trouble shooting this please.

Cheers, Devs.

It may take a little while for the temperature to drop especially if the pipes are in a thick floor. Is the flow indicator for that zone showing any flow?

Thanks and I did think the same but I've held off in replying until I could test and it now been the best part of the day and no diff in room temp.

Without sounding like too much of an idiot but where's the flow indicator and how's it read?

Cheers

They are the clear things in the lower part of your photo, the red/black marker inside moves up and down depending on the flow. They usually move about a bit as the water flows, but are stationary when the valve is fully shut. You can also check the valve actuator ring is screwed down properly by unclipping the actuator and checking the plastic mounting ring is hand tight. If it is loose the actuator won't be able to push the valve pin fully closed.

I assume this is a recent fault?

Thanks for that, yes it's only stuck on recently. I just checked the room again now and it's dropped a degree down to 19 so will see if it goes further overnight.

Thanks again for the help mate, it's appreciated.
