Rope through joist braces

I've got rope loops going through some of the braces under the floor upstairs and have no idea why. I've had 4 trades in who have never seen it before.
It's a 1985 timber frame house and I don't think this floor has ever been up since it was built til now
This is just out of curiosity, can't see any reason for them being there

look like carry handles
as in make in a remote location carry over and drop in ??
 
That's sort of what I thought initially but they're only in the end braces in the room and then not on every one.
 
last ones to go in so an exact gap to fit in [pinched fingers ??]
 
Timber frame house, I would say lifting points for made off site floor cassettes.
