RSJ TO RAFTERS HELP

Hi all had some great help of tony 1851 and jeds when i ask rsj help
so rsj size is sorted
have a lean to conservatory, with a tile roof running at 18 deg
question about rafters to rs j now
trying to save a bit of high
can i bolt a timber beam to the web of the rsj and fit the rafters to this
instead of going on top of the rsj?

just so any readers know the rsj is a uc 203/203/60 and seven mts
over a six mt opening

How do you propose finishing the apex bearing in mind there could potentially be a 210mm flat top? This translates to a very wide ridge once you consider tiles and battens etc. Possibly the gap could end up as much as 11" or so.

Surely once you have considered the above there is no difference in what happens regards height at the apex?

All you are doing is altering the position of the beam (for the worse) and not the proposed finished peak point.

Or was it your intention to have a flat topped roof?
