I always thought a jig saw cuts on the down ward stroke.
This one I have purchased cuts on the upward stroke.Which I have never known before.
The teeth on the blade are facing up as well .
I am at a loss on this one.
It depends on what blades you have chosen.....the jigsaw just reciprocates the blade holder.
Most blades have teeth that cut on the upward stroke.

all saws are designed to pull the work towards the base top or fence
jigsaw on the up stroke
chop saw blade cuts down and back
table saw cuts down onto table
circ saw up onto base
recip saw pulls onto shoe
get yourself a downcut blade for your jigsaw and it will try and jump into the air
also the pendulum action works on the up stroke only on a jigsaw
