I've got a Scantronic burglar alarm (with 9752EN-00 control panel and 9940 keypad) which was installed in 2008. We've had a few instances in the last few weeks where suddenly it's as if the keys are being pressed. An asterisk appears on the control panel and the device lights up. Normally, when this happens, a asterisk appears and it beeps, and then a few second later, another asterisk might appear. Sometimes they appear slowly, sometimes in quick succession. Then a week might go buy without experiencing it. Has anyone seen this before?

We had an alarm guy over a few months back (for a different issue with a tamper detector which was misbehaving in the front door) and he worked on the tamper device and replaced the battery in the control panel and turned off the test calls it was trying to make over the phone line it's connected to to a monitoring service we don't pay for.

Only other thing I can think of is we had a smart electricity meter installed near the control panel under the stairs, but I don't think the alarm system is in any way wireless in nature. In any case, I'm not sure why that'd cause phantom key presses on the key pad?
