I think its the other way round. Farage has jumped on the bandwagon because he can see that people do care about illegal migrants.

I've been surprised by how many people i've heard talking about the afghans who raped the girl in the leamington spa park who were found guilty yesterday. That applies only to asylum seekers, who have limited leave to remain stay, and renewal would be revoked if they are safe to return.

Farage, the vile Jew hater, has talked about revoking leave to remain for immigrants, not just asylum seekers.
