A friend of mine is intending to brick up her kitchen doorway (leading to rear garden) to enable her to fit her dream kitchen. This will result in there being only one door left in the kitchen leading to the hallway. Does anybody know if this is breaking any safety regulations? Her housing association officer thinks not and has given her the go ahead for her to carry out the work. :?:

there must be another exit point i believe like a window if no door
but dont know about "reducing"exits

would be a shame to die for a new kitchen

As it stands at the moment, any changes that alter the escape route in event of a fire has to be approved by the Building Regulations Officer. Give them a call for more info.

there is no requirement to have a fire escape from a kitchen directly to the outside.
