I have just bought a glass-topped table on eBay. The glass top is not secured in any way to the base, it is just placed on.

This seems like asking for trouble, I checked the instructions there is no piece missing from the second hand item which would normally secure the top to the base. As the glass is only placed onto the corner of the angle the glass moves easily when pushed against.

Does anyone know of a way of holding the base to the top. Was thinking along the lines of rubber grippers or similar. Comments welcome.

I would try and find a clear silicone right-angle strip to put over the wood angle. Possibly some form of shower screen sealing strip might be adaptable.
