Hi guys,

Just installed a new alarm and want to secure this cable to the keypad.

Was thinking of running it up alongside the door frame, and tacking it in.

From what I've read, tack's don't secure well in plaster, and I'm not sure how it'd look just tacking it to the door frame.

What can I do?

Thanks.

Bead of hot glue, or silicone, in corner where wall meets door frame and hold in place with insulating tape, if silicon is used, until it goes off.

Think you will be hard pressed to make a neater job.

Huge? Really?

A length of mini trunking fixed to the door frame, you will hardly see it.

ps Don't use the sticky on the back of the trunking, it is useless, it will come away, use the sticky for 1st fix then tiny nails or screws

Cable stapler?

You're right about cable clips not holding well in plaster, nor do staples, you just fire them in diagonally, so that one leg of the staple is in the wood and this will hold it fine.

Gaz :)

Depends on the surface of the plaster. If it's bare plaster or covered with soft emulsion, yes.
I've found that it sticks very well on hard gloss paint, and can actually damage the plaster if not pulled off carefully.

Perhaps, but if you go back a few months later it will be coming off

The trunking I pulled off came with a thin layer of plaster. It was in the house when I moved in, two years previously. Other pieces are still in place and I've opened them to replace the cables.
