I've just bought a security light to install on the side of the house, it states to use two core neutral/live wire, why does it not state 3 core which will include an earth? I'm only guessing its because the unit is made entirely of plastic.
I want to use 1mm 2core from lamp, down to ground level (almost) and then through wall using an existing hole left by a Sky cable that i'm going to rip out. I also plan to use some plastic conduit, will this be sufficiant?
Thanks.

It will be class 2 or double insulated fitting they do not need to be earthed.
Should be a symbol with a square inside a square, on fitting to confirm this.

Still run a three core to the fitting, The earth(CPC) will help test for continuity and also offers an earth connection, if you ever need to replace the fitting with one that has an earth terminal.
Put it in a connetion block.

As above. Not only useful if you replace the fitting, but the earth provides some protection against cable damage.

Just make sure you either cut the earth off tidy, or tape it back along the cable so it doesn't touch, foul or damage anything.

I agree, but I would run a T&E rather than a three core......thinking......thinking.......is a three core the same as T&E?

3 core round flex would be ideal.

T+E is no use for these type of lights, as the light will probably have a round grommet for sealing, and the light is usually fixed to an adjustable bracket so some movement of the flex is inevitable.

Please excuse my ignorance, but are you saying connect the Nautral and Live but dont conect the Earth, just bend it back and tape it up??

Yes I believe that is what is being suggested, you have stated the fitting has no earth terminal.
This only applies to the light fitting, the rest of the circuit, switch, supply etc... should have the earth (CPC) terminated correctly.

If theres enough room in the fitting then put the unused earth into a plastic connector block. simples!
