Hi, I moved to my new house a few months ago and so far I have not done anything with the heating. The house has got a separate system for the radiators with a gas boiler, and one for the hot water with a separate tank. I had to remove a few radiators and I wanted to change a few valves but I am not sure how to isolate the system. In the loft I have a pressure tank for the radiators but I can not find a valve to close it down. I have some pipes comming down from the loft through a gap in the wall wich is covered by a wooden panel. Is it likely to be there? I would like to know the chances before I start stripping the board.
This is one question. The second one as I never had gas in my life is what do I need to do to set up the gas boiler which at the moment is shut down. I am guessing I will need to call British Gas but is it better to do it once I sorted out the new valves or does it not really matter?
Thanks for any advice,
Norht

2 boilers or a boiler with a multipoint water heater? Pressure tank in the roof?
Whats behind a panel in your house? Where to start? What boiler do you have? So many questions!!!!!

Hi,
There are two boilers, one electric boiler water tank in the loft for the hot water system in the house with its own pressure tank. A gas boiler in the kitchen for the heating system with its own pressure tank in the loft. Behind the panels there are a few pipes comming down from the loft but I am not sure if there are valves behing as I have not taken down the panels as they are nailed down. I bought the house about three months ago and the main gas valve was shut when we got in. I assume the owners asked BG to disconnect the supply temporarely as nothing happen when I open the gas valve and try to switch on the boiler.

Short of all of us here driving down to Hampshire to physically look around, we are not really going to be of much help - only the installer could answer your questions remotely - ask neighbours if they can recommend a good local gas servicing company - get them in to do a full service especially as the system is currently de-commissioned it would be wise and safer to have someone in to Commission and test the system for safety i am sure they would also be pleased to demonstrate how to use it all

Good luck in your new Home

Your can come, I can make some tea.
OK thanks I just wanted to do as much work as possible before calling BG in order to avoid second visits. Our budget is not exactly unlimited.
Thanks,
North

Hi
If budget is a consideration the call to BG may not be wise.
Finding a reliable local Gassafe registered individual or company to visit and go through different options would be your best move.
