Shed leaking through wall

Hi all, just bought my first house which came with a lovely shed. Its 18 years old according to the neighbour and has the original felt roof shingles which are still not leaking.

I noticed small beads of water coming in through the wall in driving rain, through the knots.

This wall looks like it hasn't been treated on the outside for years, so I wonder should I just treat it with some kind of preserver and that will solve it(reccomendactions please) Or should i do something to the knots first? (Can't see daylight through any of the knots)

Here is a cross section of the wall to give an idea of the construction, not sure if this is called tongue and groove or shiplap or something else?


Also read advice on another thread in this forum about using a membrane on the walls exposed to the driving rain, Any advice on this approach also appreciated.

I would give it a coat of decking oil, will seal and cheap option.

Thanks for the advice foxhole, will take a look at decking oil, something i hadn't considered. Anything to seal those knots!

My shed did the same on the north facing side. The wood was rotting a bit and the driven rain was starting to get through.
A new building was being erected at my work and the was a lot of shuttering being constructed.
The guys were using this stuff and discarding it after one use. I took four sheets home and used it to protect my shed. Two 8 x 4 sheets to a side and a couple of strips of wood to secure it to my shed. I've painted with Cuprinol and you can't tell that it isn't wood.
The last time I was in Homebase, I noticed that they had it too.
