hi everyone, can any please tell why i get a little shock when i switch a light on, (with dry hands)

could it be due to the circuit not being ground properly.?

On one hand it could be a faulty earth, on the other hand could just be static electricity where you get a shock as you discharge yourself to earth yourself at the light switch.
Best get the earth checked out first, if you don't know how it is probably best left to an electrician.

hi, thanks for the reply the housing in the wall is metal the switch is plastic

It could be a non-existent earth connection. You need to ascertain Zs at the switch position.

what type of flooring do you have?

some of the cheaper laminates and underlays generate good static shocks
