I’m currently re-doing the living room of a house we’ve recently moved in to. The room has laminate flooring and in the middle of the room a roughly 3.2m x 2.1m section of carpet (I assume to give the impression of a rug). The laminate runs through in the the hallway and in to another room, which I don’t intend on doing anything with currently.
My initial thought was to remove the laminated in the living room and carpet up to the door, but I’ve come to realise that the carpeted bit in the middle of the room has a double layer of underlay to bring the carpet up to the level of the laminate.
What are people’s opinions on how I should tackle this? Can I bring the level up in the living room without it being a massive job? The subfloor is a concrete slab.
Photo’s attached, thanks in advance!
