hi,my shower fuse keeps switching off every time i put shower on?,starting to do a little diy, but hey us females all need a little help sometimes!
any ideas

Are you switching the shower on at the isolator or at the actual shower unit?

This topic seems to have stalled, but if you don't already know then these symptoms are most often caused by an electrical fault within the shower.

A repair would best be done by someone with more skills than a novice, so your best bet is to call an electrician to test and replace the faulty parts. You'll need an electrician with some plumbing skills, or a plumber with some electrical skills.

Depending on the shower make/model, it's sometimes tempting to replace the entire unit - usually quicker too, rather than waiting for parts.

if that is you can find a new shower unit that matches the existing wiring and pipework positions. showers are usually fitted on tiled walls which are expensive to make good (especially if replacement tiles aren't availible to match and so the whole wall or even room needs re-tiling) after any plumbing or electrical work.

the shower isn't a Mira or a Gainsborough ?

It sounds like one of the eliments has gone, best to buy a new shower- I usually recomend Triton as they seem most reliable at the moment.

Triton? I'm surprised by that - they always seem to me to be at the bottom end of the market, and the quality isn't a patch on Mira.

We've had a few Triton showers, never had one fail early, all have lasted 5 years+ which i think is reasonable, considering its used 4 times a day average.

I work in a hard water area and the heater cans seem to be lasting less than two years.

Regardless of that, I stand by my point about quality - internally they look home-made next to Miras.

I always reccomend Mira to customers, and find them to be well built, quality units, and easy to fit too.

However I have a Triton power shower at home, which in 15 years has needed a replacement motor about 6 years ago, but that is the only problem I have had with it.
