My shower in my bedroom is blocked - the water was running slow so I put some chemical cleaners down it which did nothing, and now the water and chemical mix just sits in the shower and has all little black bits in it. The chemicals have corroded the coating on the plug hole but the won't go away! What can I do to unblock it? Everything else in the house seems fine.

If you have the normal shower waste - which it sounds like you may have, remove the grill from it and you will be able to lift out a tube from inside, which has a bar of plastic across it. It may need a pair of pliers as it has been there a while. This will make it much easier to clean.
